    Distance and E-Learning Days Plan

    What are Distance learning days?
    The term “distance learning day” refers to a school day when instead of coming to a school building
    teachers and students communicate and engage in learning activities online through Synergy, Email,
    Phone calls, or other learning platforms. Teachers share assignments and hold virtual office hours while
    students’ complete assignments and activities while receiving guidance from teachers.

    Park Rapids Area Schools distance learning days are a great transition step to the digital world that is
    used every day and gives students the skills to work and learn online. During these days, Our teachers
    are still actively engaged with students, directing and overseeing their work.

    Distance learning days may be planned in advance.

    E-learning days may be held in the event of
    unplanned school closures due to emergency situations such as severe weather, power outages or other
    situations in which students will be unable to attend school.

    Planned and Unplanned Distance or E-learning Days

    Two planned distance learning days have been scheduled for the 2022-23 school year. The dates for
    these days are:
    Thursday, October 20, 2022
    Wednesday, January 25, 2023 for the High School Students Only


    How planned Distance learning days’ work:
     Assignments and activities will be posted in advance of the distance learning day, no later than
    the evening before the scheduled day.
     Teachers will hold office hours from 8am-3pm district-wide on the distance learning day.
     The due dates for distance learning day assignments will also be flexible to accommodate
    varying schedules. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have specific questions about due
    dates.   
    How unplanned E-Learning Days work:
     Parents/Guardians will receive an automated phone call, text or email via the School Messenger
    service and announcements will be made on local television and radio stations, the Park Rapids
    Enterprise website and the school district web page, www.parkrapids.k12.mn.us describing the
    school closure event.
     Students will not report to school but will engage in E-learning activities as assigned.
     Teachers will post work by 10:00 AM for students.
     Teachers will be online during the school day to answer questions and provide guidance.
     The due dates for E-learning day assignments will also be flexible.
