I grew up in Moorhead, MN. where I met my wife, with whom I have a beautiful four year old daughter. I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a major in Life-Science Education, as well as Biology with emphasis in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Before coming to Park Rapids, I worked with students from Moorhead Public School District, as well as Barnesville Public School District in Minnesota. In my free time I enjoy golfing, hunting, fishing and camping, as well as spending time at home with my family.

    My Philosophy of Science Education

Science education is vital for today’s youth. An education in the sciences can provide connections to the world in which we live, provide explanations for phenomena, as well as offer solutions for everyday problems. Providing students with a quality science education promotes creative and critical thinking skills that can be very useful in their everyday lives both in and out of the classroom, no matter what the students chosen profession may be.

I feel that it is important to teach the lessons to my students in a way that enables them to piece together these connections to their world, and instill in them a sense of curiosity and wonder. Through my classes students should become familiar with, and understand the importance and relevance of science in today’s world.

    CK-12 bozemanscience
cK-12 is a great site to review and practice biology concepts. Bozeman science has many biology related videos to help you study. Khan academy is another great source for biology related topics. We will use edmodo for class discussion and science news.
I'm still figuring out how I want to use this one but it is similar to the other video sights. We will use Kahoot in class as a review tool and an occasional quiz. No doubt you've used this before but I've got some feeds you should subscribe to. This site has a wide feed of different and cool science/tech related news.
