    • Students must be going into the field of math, engineering, telecommunications, accounting, computer science or any of the physical sciences.
    • Students may attend a four year or two year college program.
    • Students who show the qualities of good citizenship, leadership, and academic ability.
    • If a student changes his/her major to a program not listed the scholarship will not be awarded.
    • One scholarship to a Park Rapids senior will be awarded.
    • The funds will be given after the first semester grades have been reported to the scholarship committee at ACS
    • You must make academic progress to continue to receive the scholarships for the following years.
    • $3,000 will be divided up over 4 years, four equal payments of $750.
    • Application can be turned in to the counseling office

    CAREER IN COSMETOLOGY

    Bonnie Carpenter Memorial Scholarship

    Bonnie Carpenter owned and operated Bon-Sheri Salon of Beauty in Park Rapids for 40 years opening the business in 1963.  Bonnie loved her profession and employed many of the local cosmetologists.

    Beginning with the Class of 2013 a $5000 scholarship fund has been created offering one $1000 scholarship for the next 5 years to a graduating senior of Park Rapids Area High School pursuing a career in cosmetology.

    Requirements:

    • This scholarship will be awarded to a Park Rapids Area High School graduate after successful completion of a cosmetology program and receiving their cosmetology license.
    • The senior must graduate from Park Rapids High School and enroll in a cosmetology program within six months of graduating from high school.
    • The recipient will receive the scholarship money upon showing proof of a license in cosmetology to the high school guidance counselor.
    • Write a short essay on the importance of receiving this scholarship and why you want to have a career in cosmetology.  Also, include a list of any school, church, community involvement and work experience.

    • Scholarship can be used at any accredited institution of higher learning; including universities, colleges, community colleges, vocational schools, etc.

    • Scholarships will be awarded during the second semester of their freshman year.

    • Scholarship will be awarded based on the successful completion of their first semester/quarter as a full time student and achieving a grade point average of at least 2.5 and providing an enrollment form which shows the student has enrolled into the second quarter/semester of classes.

    • All nomination packets need to include a recommendation letter from a teacher or counselor, high school transcript, essay and the name of your veteran relative you are eligible under.

    • The applicant must interview a veteran, and write an essay of the veteran's experiences and why you are proud of him or her (no more than 500 words).

    The applicant may attend any vocational school, technical college, college or university 
    that provides training for completion of a degree program or specialized medical training 
    (requiring less than a bachelor's degree) such as LPN, RN, radiology tech or laboratory

    Scholarship Criteria

     

    • Applicant must further their education by attending a vocational, technical or 2-4 year college program.
    • Applicant must be a good standing citizen, have leadership skills & participate in a minimum of 1 sport during their junior & senior year and additional extracurricular activities throughout high school.
    • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 and have attended Park Rapids Schools, full time, their junior & senior years.
    • Applicant must successfully graduate from Park Rapids High School.
    • Applicant must provide an essay answering the following: What does “Livin’ the Dream” mean to you?

    Minnesota Telcom Alliance Foundation Scholarship

    Five $2000 scholarships will be awarded to 2021 Minnesota graduating high school seniors. To be eligible, applicants must be attending post-secondary education at either a university, college or technical college, be a Minnesota resident, and the applicant's family must subscribe to at least one service from Arvig.

    Preference is given to students who have an interest in information or telecommunications technology and rural communities.

    National Wild Turkey Federation's Academic Scholarship

    • Students should be graduating seniors with a 3.0 on 4.0 scale or equivalent grade point average. (If transcript indicates a scale other than 4.0, student should have a minimum of 3.75 on a 5.0 scale, 4.5/6.0 scale, 5.25/7.0 scale, 6.0/8.0 scale, 6.75/9.0 scale or a 7.5/10.0 scale).
    • Students must be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education (i.e. Junior College, Community College, Technical College, College or University).
    • Students must support the preservation of the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports. A copy of current hunting license is required.
    • Students must hold a current NWTF membership.
    • Students must be involved in school activities (i.e. FFA, Ecology Club, Science Club, Beta Club, Student Council, etc.).
    • Students must demonstrate ability as a leader among his or her peers.
    • Students must demonstrate community leadership and/or involvement (i.e. Scouting, 4-H, civic group or club, volunteer work).
    • Students must submit an essay exhibiting dedication to conservation (see application).
    • Three letters of recommendation must be attached to the application (i.e. teacher, counselor, community leader).
    • High schools/students must submit complete applications to the local chapter by January 1. The local chapter president’s name and address should appear on the application in the box provided.

    Northway Insurance of Park Rapids is offering one merit based scholarship in the amount of $500 for a female student from the PRAHS graduating class!

    Park Rapids Garden Club Scholarship

    The Park Rapids Garden Club is offering a $750 scholarship for high school graduates (or former graduates) who reside in Hubbard County.  The scholarship is designated to financially assist students interested in pursuing a career in horticulture.  Other disciplines related to Horticulture such as Landscape Design/architecture or Agriculture will also be considered.

    St. Joseph’s Area Health Services Scholarship - Second Year or Beyond

    • One $1,000 scholarship
    • Must have completed junior and senior years of high school at Park Rapids, Nevis, Menahga, Sebeka, Laporte or Walker.
    • Must be in satisfactory academic standing - minimum of "C+" average or 2.5 GPA.
    • Must be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time in a course of study leading to a certificate, diploma, license, associate or bachelors degree in a healthcare field of study.

    • Must be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time (12 credit hours or more) in a course of study leading to certificate, diploma, license, associate or bachelors degree in a healthcare field of study at an accredited two or four year college, university, vocational/technical school, nursing school or an institution accredited by an appropriate state licensing health care board. 
    • Must be a current high school senior at Park Rapids, Nevis, Menahga, Sebeka, Laporte or Walker Schools
    • Must be in satisfactory academic standing - minimum of "C+" average or 2.5 GPA.

    TEAM Industries/Don Ricke Scholarship

    Elgibilibity Requirments:

    • Graduate from Park Rapids Area High School
    • Must pursue post secondary education at two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the fall following graduation
    • Must plan on pursuing the following fields of study

                        -Hydraulics 
                        -Mechatronics 
                        -CAD or Mechanical Design
                        -Electronics
                        -Machine Tool Trades

    • Must have "C" average or a 2.0 GPA and demonstrate a willingness to advance in education with aptitude in math and science 
    • Must have some type of participation in school or community related activities.

    Theodore J. Haberer Memorial Scholarship

    This $1000 Scholarship is given in memory of Ted Haberer a Park Rapids graduate, a pharmacist and member of the Park Rapids community for many years.  It was his wish to start this scholarship for a deserving Park Rapids High School graduate.

    Criteria:

    • Attends a college or university in the State of Minnesota or North Dakota State Univeristy, Fargo, ND
    • must be a graduating senior from Park Rapids Area High School
    • must show financial need for this scholarship
    • must have demonstrated potential ability to succeed in post secondary education
    • must show proof of enrollment in a college of university
    • As many $1000 scholarships as possible will be given annually based on the current interest accrual.

    Timberland Dirt Devils

    Applicant/School Information Sheet

     

    Eligibility:

    1. This is a onetime scholarship for High School Seniors, a sealed transcript is required.
    2. Students must be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education (i.e. Junior College, Community College, Technical College, College or University)
    3. Students must support the Safety, Conservation, Preservation and Sharing of the Forest Trails and ATV-ing.
    4. Students must hold a current ATV Safety Education Certificate.
    5. Students must be involved in school activities (Student Council, Class Officer, FFA, Robotics, Band, Drama, Sports, Debate, etc.)
    6. Students must demonstrate leadership among their peers.
    7. Students must demonstrate community involvement (i.e. Scouting, 4H, Volunteer work)
    8. Must submit a brief essay exhibiting dedication to Safety, Conservation, Preservation and Sharing of the Forest Trails and ATV-ing.
    9. One Letter of Recommendation must be attached (i.e. teacher, counselor, Employer, Clergy, community leader).
    10. High school students must submit complete application to the Timberland Dirt Devils ATV Club, President at PO Box 56, Akeley. MN. 56433.

     

    Selection Process:

    1. High school students will submit application and qualifications on the official Timberland Dirt Devils ATV Club scholarship application, along with required

          attachments to the Chapter President.

    1. Chapter members will review all applicant qualifications and select a winner that

          meets or exceeds requirements. The chapter will notify winner by E-mail.

    Trinity Episcopal and Presbyterian Scholarship 

    ***Open to ALL Seniors @ PRAHS***

    In addition to the Application Form, a Letter of Application must be submitted.  Contained within the Letter of Application, address the following issues:

    • Demonstration of financial need and how this scholarship will enable you to continue your education.
    • A brief description of what field of study you plan to pursue and why you have chosen this field of study.
    • How will a post secondary education enrich your life and how will you use it to enrich others?
    • A brief description of your extracurricular activities (school and community) and how they have contributed to your educational experience 

    The amount of the Trinity Scholarship will be $2000.  $1000 will be disbursed the first semester and $1000 will be disbursed the second semester upon proof of successful completion of the first semester.

    The Trinity Scholarship Committee, in coordination with Park Rapids High School, will make the selection of the scholarship recipient.

    Application must be filed with the school counselor by May 1.

    Certificate of scholarship will be presented at the Annual Awards Program.

    Disbursement of funds will be made upon demonstrated proof of enrollment in an accredited college or technical school.

    Student must be a member of TruStar Federal Credit Union, be a senior in high school, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be attending a 2 or 4 year college or University.
