Teaching Experience:  I started my teaching career as a Business teacher in Windom, MN in 1992 and was there for one year before I came to Park Rapids to start my career here in 1993.

Education:  I graduated from Aitkin High School in 1983, received my Associate in Arts Degree from Brainerd Community College, got my Bachelor’s Degree from Bemidji State University, and have a Masters Degree from Southwest State University.

I am passionate about teaching Business classes because students are either going to work in the business world or deal with it.  I want them to understand how that world works before they get there.

  • The Business Education Department provides occupational preparation for post-secondary education and/or entry level business oriented positions. Options for students in the areas of Accounting, Computer Applications, Business Law, and Web Design provide a broad foundation for those seeking employment in business organizations. The Business Education Department also offers a Money Management course that provides students an opportunity to encounter consumer situations affecting their daily lives so that they may become: (1) wise and skillful in selecting and using the goods and services of business, and (2) competent and efficient in managing their own personal business and fnancial affairs.

For those students planning to major in a business related field or enter into a business occupation after high school (either owning a business, working in another's business, or going on to a college or other post-secondary institution) refer to the school registration catalog or contact one of the business education instructors for suggestions in planning a high school program.

Classes:  Accounting, Economics, Business Law, Introduction to Microsoft Applications, Money Management, Intro to Computers, Web Page Development, Keyboarding/Word Processing, Desktop Publishing, Business Seminar, Business Internship and other business courses on an advanced, independent study basis.

Classroom Expectations:  Have good attendance and come prepared to learn and participate every class period.

Students and parents can check for missing assignments and grades in Parent Connect and Student Vue.  Most assignments are posted in the Homework app also.

I am the advisor of Business Professionals of America and encourage students to check it out to see if this is an organization they would like to participate in.
