Business Education Department

The Business Education Department provides occupational preparation for post-secondary education and/or entry-level business-oriented positions. Options for students in the areas of Accounting, Computer Applications, Business Law, and Web Design provide a broad foundation for those seeking employment in business organizations. The Business Education Department also offers a Money Management course that provides students an opportunity to encounter consumer situations affecting their daily lives so that they may become: (1) wise and skillful in selecting and using the goods and services of business, and (2) competent and efficient in managing their own personal business and financial affairs.

For those students planning to major in a business related field or enter into a business occupation after high school (either owning a business, working in another's business, or going on to a college or other post-secondary institution), refer to the school registration catalog or contact one of the business education instructors for suggestions on planning a high school program.

Ever wondered what Business Professionals of America (BPA) is all about? Watch this video to get a quick overview of the program. If you have any questions or would like to join, see Mrs. Kuehn or Mrs. Murphy at the high school.

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is pleased to announce that four students from Eastland Career Center in Ohio have earned top honors in the organization’s first-ever Students Recruiting Students video contest sponsored by Avidity Creates|MasterMIND Productions.

The team of Jazzmin Days, Jayla Neal, Malcom Harrell and Jonathan Pinkerton learned that their video was selected during the organization’s National Virtual Celebration held virtually in late Spring. The team’s winning video has just been released to coincide with the start of the organization’s new membership year so it is available for chapter recruitment efforts nationwide.

As many schools across the country continue to re-imagine classroom learning due to COVID-19, an increased use of social media, virtual communications and recruitment videos will likely become more widely used by student clubs and organizations this year. Whether students are meeting in person, virtually, or through a hybrid approach, continuing engagement in student organizations such as Business Professionals of America offers those who join an avenue for networking, social engagement, service learning and leadership development opportunities. All of these offerings can help keep students empowered and inspired while expanding upon daily classroom learning.
